ROCKFORD (WREX) — Two people have been hospitalized with "serious injuries" after a shooting in a Rockford neighborhood Thursday.

Rockford Police say two people have been shot in the 800 block of Ferguson St., according to a social media post just after noon Thursday.

The post on X says both victims, now confirmed by RPD as a 27-year-old man and a 42-year-old woman, were taken to local hospitals. A later post says their injuries are "serious."

The public is asked to avoid the area while police investigate.
