SHREVEPORT, La. (KSLA) - The Krewe of Centaur has named NBA Hall of Famer Robert Parish as the Grand Marshal for its 2026 parade.

The Centaur Parade will roll through Shreveport on Saturday, Feb. 7, 2026.

Known as “The Chief,” Parish grew up in Shreveport and built his basketball legacy locally before achieving national fame. He starred at Woodlawn High School, where he earned All-American and All-State honors in 1972 and led the Knights to a 4A state championship.

He stayed home to play for Centenary College, where he became the school’s all-time scoring leader and led the Gents to a 22-5 record in the 1975–76 season, averaging 24.4 points and a nation-leading 18 rebounds per game.
