MORRISVILLE, N.C. (WNCN) — Passengers at Raleigh-Durham International Airport started feeling the impacts of the Federal Aviation Administration's new flight reductions Friday as airlines cut flights in response to the ongoing government shutdown.
Forty airports are directly affected by the FAA's reductions, including major connecting points for local travelers like Atlanta and Charlotte.
Airlines began cutting 4% of flights at these airports Friday, but that number will increase to 6% by next Tuesday if the government isn't reopened. Flight reductions could swell to 10% in a week, potentially impacting thousands of flights.
While RDU isn't directly impacted by these mandated reductions, passengers are feeling the ripple effect.
