JEFFERSON COUNTY, Ala. ( WBRC ) - Three former Walker County jailers entered guilty pleas in federal court Friday morning in connection with the in-custody death of inmate Anthony “Tony” Mitchell .

Braxton Kee, Heather Craig, and Karen Kelly all pleaded guilty to deprivation of rights charges .

According to Department of Justice filings, Mitchell was denied medical and mental health care while in the Walker County Jail . Mitchell died in custody two weeks after his arrest in January 2023.
