CHARLOTTE (QUEEN CITY NEWS) -- Thousands of North Carolina families saw partial Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) payments loaded onto their EBT cards on Friday, and full benefits could follow as soon as this weekend.

The NC Department of Health and Human Services announced it had received word from the U.S. Department of Agriculture that full funding for November SNAP benefits has been approved. The state agency is now working with federal partners to process the remaining payments as quickly as possible.

More than 586,000 households rely on SNAP in North Carolina.

Earlier on Friday, NCDHHS had issued only partial benefits after receiving initial direction from the USDA to reduce payments by 35%.
