CLEVELAND — Many Northeast Ohio travelers braced for the worst as the Federal Aviation Administration ordered airlines to cut hundreds of flights across the U.S. starting Friday.

“It's all you hear is that they're canceled, delays, get to the airport two hours early,” said Terri Miller, who was flying on Friday. “It’s horrible. I hate it.”

Andrew Zeranick also had a flight to catch.

“A little bit worried, because I am taking a flight today. I am here very early because of it,” said Zeranick.

The FAA said the reductions are meant to relieve pressure on air traffic controllers, many of whom are working without pay, as the government shutdown drags on.
