A traveller’s large bulge in his trousers has caught the attention of border force officers for all the wrong reasons.

Walter Alcivar is behind bars after strapping a 5.5-kilogram plastic-wrapped package to his groin, donning two pairs of underwear and trying to exit Sydney Airport.

He had made it past security in Madrid airport and headed for Australia, only for the “large anomaly” in the dual Ecuadorian-Canadian citizen’s pants to be spotted on arrival to Sydney by border force officials, court documents seen by AAP reveal.

CCTV stills of the 42-year-old drug mule being escorted through the airport with a noticeable bulge in his trousers were included in the documents, but were not released by a court registrar on Friday.
