BRISTOL, R.I. (WLNE) — The Bristol Police Department said that the head of a deer that a resident said was left on their doorstep on Oct. 30 was left by an animal.
Police said the report came from a home on Elmwood Drive, where the homeowner said they believed the head of a 1-year-old doe was left by a hunter upset at their opposition to bow hunting in the area.
The department said that after an investigation of the area, there was no evidence that any hunters or suspicious persons or vehicles were in the area at the time the head was left at the home.
In addition, an analysis of the head found the wounds to be consistent with an animal kill and not from human involvement.
