A Massachusetts police chief has been placed on administrative leave after he was arrested for allegedly soliciting sex for cash, authorities said.
Cheshire Police Chief Michael Alibozek, 53, of Adams, was busted Thursday night, Nov. 6, in an undercover sting, where investigators said he tried to pay for sex from an undercover officer.
Officers arrested him around 9:45 p.m. in the parking lot of Hoosac Valley Middle and High School, the Berkshire County District Attorney's Office said.
Investigators said Alibozek had been communicating online with an undercover detective posing as part of the Berkshire State Police Detective Unit.
After his arrest, Alibozek was immediately relieved of duty and placed on paid administrative leave. Town officials also seized his town-issued firearm and blocked his access to the police station.
Town leaders plan to hold an emergency Selectboard meeting on Friday to appoint an acting police chief. The Town of Cheshire said it has reported the case to the Massachusetts POST Commission.
Alibozek is scheduled to be arraigned on Monday.
