ADAMS COUNTY, Ill. (WGEM) -One area school district had a celebration for veterans on Friday.

Unity Middle and High School hosted their Veterans Day Program to show gratitude and appreciation for area Veterans and the sacrifice they and their families make.

The program featured performances by the student band and cheerleaders.

Area veterans were honored by name before talks from guest speakers and a video about historical Adams County veterans.

One area veteran talked about the special effort the community makes and how much it’s appreciated.

“This area has a lot of veterans here, so they know what it takes to serve and their families are affected by service and their sacrifices they made while staying home,” said veteran Mike Mealiff. “So, its just creates an environment that’s cond
