Millions of Americans are bracing for flight cancelations and delays ahead of the holiday season as the government shutdown enters its sixth week.
Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy announced there would be up to a 15% reduction in flights at 40 airports , and Federal Aviation Administration Administrator Bryan Bedford told CEOs of major airlines the cuts would start at 4% on Friday. They'll rise to 5% on Saturday and 6% on Sunday before hitting 10% late next week.
Illinois' two largest and busiest airports, O'Hare International and Chicago Midway , are set to receive cuts.
