Lilly Hagensicker Joplin High School Veterans Day is a very important holiday and it should be recognized and celebrated by everyone in our community. It is a day where everyone should honor and thank all of the veterans who have served our country. The veterans need greater recognition than they already have because some of them end up being homeless or they have severe mental health conditions and need to seek help. We can show our gratitude for them by helping them with their issues and learning what all they did for the country, and not only just going to parades for candy and gifts.

Some of the older veterans end up becoming homeless due to the lack of affordable houses for them to find a stable home. Some may have a higher risk of becoming homeless due to combat exposure and PTSD
