Amory Garrett , Joplin High School When I hear the word “veteran,” I think about the men and women who sacrificed their lives for my freedom. Veterans Day is an annual celebration of sacrifices for all those who have served in the United States Armed Forces. We set aside November 11th to take time to remember those who risked their lives for our freedom. We think about how we should show them gratitude on this day.

Veterans Day is important because it is a dedicated time to honor and thank all living and deceased veterans. Unlike Memorial Day where we celebrate those who fought and died during war, Veterans Day celebrates everyone who served or are still serving.
