Fire officials say the blaze that broke out Friday afternoon at a two-story commercial building on the 400 block of West 23rd Street in North Baltimore remains active and is expected to burn well into the night.
Firefighters are continuing to douse the building with water and maintain a defensive position to keep the flames from spreading.
The building houses two businesses, a woodworking shop and a textile business.
Crews initially made an aggressive interior attack, but worsening conditions and high winds forced commanders to withdraw firefighters from inside.
They are now fighting the fire from the outside, working between the back of the warehouse and nearby homes to prevent the flames from spreading.
Officials have requested four additional engines and a hazmat team is assisting
