LUFKIN, Texas (KETK) -- Following protests and a previous lawsuit, the City of Lufkin is being sued a second time for its construction of a truck stop next to a residential neighborhood, this time by Lufkin residents and the Settlement Home Owners Improvement Association.

Lufkin subdivision files lawsuit to stop truck stop being built next door

The new lawsuit, filed Oct. 31, alleges the City of Lufkin violated the Texas Open Meetings Act (TOMA), by lacking transparency on the construction of an over 8,000-square-foot truck stop.

Residents had previously protested their concerns on the truck stop at City Hall in March 2024, with one asking the public to "imagine a truck stop in your backyard." At the time, the truck stop was already under construction at the corner of College Drive and
