He was watching a Ticats game the other week as he always does — he grew up near the stadium and has had seasons tickets for years — when he decided something special was in order.

Bo Levi Mitchell was having a great season. Another great season. The quarterback was being talked about as a candidate for the CFL’s most outstanding player. His performance was worth capturing in a special way, he decided.

“So I did this painting,” Dino Nicosia says.

This painting is an acrylic-on-canvas portrait of the Hamilton quarterback dropping back and getting set to throw. One he created in about three weeks in his Ancaster basement.

It’s an image that could be on the front of a football card snapped by a photographer. Except it’s done by hand.
