Enes Etlik was enrolled in the U of C's Foreign Trained Lawyers Program

An international graduate student at the University of Calgary is suing the university for $500,000, alleging academic procedural failure that he claims risked his immigration and professional status in Canada and caused him undue stress.

Enes Etlik, a recent graduate student in the Faculty of Law, said his lawsuit seeks compensation for tuition, lost immigration and professional opportunities, reputational harm and delayed graduation.

“The university’s actions have jeopardized my ability to graduate and obtain a Post-Graduation Work Permit . . . effectively ending my ability to work or complete licensing as a lawyer in Canada,” he said in an email.
