DES MOINES, Iowa (Gray Media Capitol Bureau) - Smaller and mid-sized airports across the Midwest are experiencing flight delays and cancellations due to the partial federal government shutdown, even though they are not among the 40 largest airports where the Trump administration has forced reductions.

Passengers flying through Des Moines, Sioux City, Cedar Rapids, and the Quad Cities could see disruptions because many flights rely on connections to bigger airports affected by Federal Aviation Administration cuts.

The FAA reduced air traffic by 4% this week to ease staffing issues due to the government shutdown. The agency said it will reduce traffic by 10% at affected airports next week.
