DES MOINES, Iowa (KCRG) - The Des Moines International Airport has been closed since an airplane slid off a runway Saturday night, KCCI reports.

According to airport officials, nobody was injured in the incident. An arriving airplane apparently slid off the runway around 10 p.m.

By that point, Saturday’s snowstorm had dumped about 10 inches of snow in Des Moines — and up to 15 inches in other parts of the state. That’s Des Moines’ highest two-day snowfall since January 8-9, 2024.

As of 8 a.m., all flights in and out of the airport have been delayed or canceled on Sunday morning. According to flydsm.com , United flight UA581 to Denver is the earliest listed as being on schedule.
