SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Great Bear Ski Valley is preparing for a new event this weekend, that for them is a kickoff to winter.

The promise of snow is always an exciting thought for the staff at Great Bear Ski Valley.

"We're very excited here at Great Bear for winter to be coming. I know that's not normally a common response, but that's something that we're trying to change. It's going to get cold out. Let's enjoy it," Assistant General Manager, Great Bear, Alexa Jerstad said.

Which is why its hosting Welcome Winter Fest this weekend.

"First inaugural Welcome Winter Fest for us was an opportunity for us to say hello to winter and get the community excited about winter," Sales Manager, Great Bear, Jayne Vanderberg said.
