MCCALL, Idaho — As the federal government shutdown continues, families across Idaho are starting to feel the strain, especially those who rely on SNAP benefits or federal paychecks.

In McCall, one longtime local restaurant is stepping up to help.

For 36 years, My Father’s Place has been a community staple, a family-run burger joint known for good food and friendly faces. Now, owners Cosette and Tabitha Martineau are giving back to the community that has supported them for decades by offering free meals to anyone affected by SNAP benefit cuts or the shutdown.

“Everybody comes together when in need, and it’s our time to step up,” the Martineaus said.
