MANDAN, ND (KXNET) — As part of a tradition honoring local veterans who served the United States, students at Mandan Middle School planted 120 flags in front of the school Thursday afternoon.
Students raised $1,352 for Disabled American Veterans (DAV) Field of Flags this year, placing the school 48th out of more than 1,000 that participated around the country.

The planting of the flags serves as the culmination of a year-long effort to raise money for the DAV, helping provide support to veterans who need it most. • Photos provided by Angela Wescott, 8th grade earth science teacher at Mandan Middle School.
