Members of the tree commission believe the Barrington Department of Public Works has been cutting down healthy trees in town.
That allegation surfaced during a conversation about the town’s tree management and planting program that took place at the recent Barrington Town Council meeting. Ted Myatt, who serves as the co-chairman for the town’s tree commission and conservation commission, said the commission members want to know about the process the DPW follows when a request is made to have a town tree cut down.
Myatt said he believes healthy town trees are being cut down by the DPW at the cost of Barrington taxpayers. He also said the DPW is not providing the proper notification to community members when trees are going to be removed. Myatt asked how the DPW assesses
