GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KREX) - It all started in 1919, as an observance of World War One coming to a welcome end. Now, Veterans Day is a holiday to honor our men and women in the armed forces, and the people of Grand Junction have decided one day of celebration is simply not enough, instead opting to dedicate a full week of events to Mesa County's many veterans.

It all kicked off Friday morning, when vets from the Army, the Marines, the Air Force, and even the Space Force were honored at Grand Junction's Moose Lodge with a bruncheon ceremony. When it comes to vets in the Grand Valley, WesternSlopeNow was told, there are no such thing as strangers.
