Loves Park, Ill (WTVO) — VC United, a local volleyball club, established the 'Let's Go Scholarship' in memory of Bill Messenger, who passed away last year after his hard-fought battle against cancer. The scholarship aims to make club volleyball more accessible to young athletes.
Angie Messenger, Bill's wife, shared that the chant 'let's go' was synonymous with Bill, "All the girls know whenever they hear 'let's go' they know it's Bill."
"Once Bill had passed we were really trying hard to find a way to honor him. This scholarship and doing what we're doing right now was the most obvious thing in the world," said Eric Schulze, founder of VC United.
