BOISE, Idaho — A hunter died early Thursday while attempting to pack out an elk in a remote area near Bald Mountain, the Boise County Sheriff's Office said.
Boise County said its dispatch received a text to 911 around 3 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, stating that a member of the hunting party was down and needed help. The hunters had harvested an elk the day before and were returning to camp when the incident occurred, according to the sheriff's office.
"EMS was notified by state communications but due to the location ambulance services could not reach the hunters," Boise County wrote in a news release.
The hunters did CPR, but the man did not survive, officials said.
