FARGO — The pandemic of five years ago has resurfaced at Scheels Center at Sanford Health Athletic Complex, only this time in the form of shooting woes by the North Dakota State men’s and women’s basketball teams. Call it COLD-3.
The men are 9 of 58 from the 3-point line after two road games. The women are 10 of 48 and combined that adds up to 19 of 106. Friday night, that wasn’t a promising formula against Gonzaga, which took a convincing 81-66 victory.
The crowd of 1,906 fans, one of the best attended season openers in a long time, meant the Bison carried over their WNIT momentum from last season when they beat New Mexico State and Washington State before losing an overtime game to Troy in the Great 8 Round. All were in Fargo before boisterous crowds.
