The Archdiocese of Hartford is set to open two Catholic schools next year and church leaders believe that growth coincides with a renewed interested in Catholic education and church attendance.

A new Catholic school called the Chesterton Academy of St. Francis of Assisi is slated to open for ninth and tenth grades in Fall 2026. It will open in the former school behind St. Francis of Assisi Church in New Britain.

The pastor of St. Francis, Father Michael Casey, said more families have been attending church so it made sense to open a school.
