PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Arizona has one of the fastest growth rates for Alzheimer’s in the country, but new research offers hope as the state prepares for its annual Walk to End Alzheimer’s this weekend.
A groundbreaking international clinical trial is testing preventive medication on people with a family history of early-onset Alzheimer’s before they show any symptoms. The trial focuses on patients who have the rare genetic disorder that causes Alzheimer’s to present in their 40s.
“This is hope we’ve never had before. I think the future looks very bright,” said CBS News Chief Medical Correspondent Dr. Jon Lapook, who is profiling the trial for CBS Sunday Morning.
