Federal Agents Urge Law Enforcement Partners to Clearly Identify Themselves

Federal officials are warning law enforcement partners to clearly identify themselves during field operations following a series of violent crimes involving individuals impersonating U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers, according to an FBI bulletin obtained through a public records request.

The Oct. 17 notice, released by the watchdog group Property of the People, highlights at least five recent incidents in which suspects falsely claimed to be ICE agents before committing crimes ranging from robbery to sexual assault.
