PLACER COUNTY, Calif. (KOLO) - On Tuesday, Nov. 4, a suspect who allegedly targeted a Placer County child was arrested in Missouri, according to a law enforcement Facebook post.

After being apprehended by the U.S. Marshals Service, the St. Charles County Police Department in Missouri, and the St. Charles Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Steven Ohrie Williams III of Missouri is awaiting extradition to Placer County where he faces felony charges, according to a Friday, Nov. 7, Placer County Sheriff’s Office post.

The investigation began in April 2025 when Placer County Special Operations detectives identified Williams as the suspect.

Detectives found Williams had been communicating with a Placer County child for the purpose of obtaining illicit material, the post said.
