PORT HURON – Few teams can say they’ve made the postseason three games under five-hundred.
Rarely has a team that finished with that type of mark reached the regional finals.
Enter Warren De La Salle’s world.
The Pilots played a brutally-tough schedule and despite finishing 3-6 in the regular season had enough playoff points to reach the Division 3 postseason. Now that the MHSAA field will reach the final eight teams in each of the 11-Man Football divisions after this weekend, Warren De La Salle is still standing.
The Pilots (5-6 overall) put together a 34-6 victory Friday night over host Port Huron to capture the school’s eighth district championship in nine years. De La Salle didn’t win a district in 2019 for a bizarre reason.
