Ward 1 Alderman Chris Morgan doesn’t agree with claims that a lack of support from Mayor Jay Ruais hurt Republican candidates at the polls in this year’s municipal election.
After finishing third in the four-way race for alderman-at-large seats — and losing his bid for reelection — Alderman Joe Kelly Levasseur told a Union Leader reporter there’s “no sugar coating these losses” for Republicans, after the school board went 14-0 and Board of Mayor and Aldermen 9-5 in favor of Democrats.
“We had great candidates that lost because they did not have the mayor’s serious and involved support,” Levasseur said. “ (Ross) Terrio deserves huge credit for winning his race, which may save us taxpayers since a 10-4 Democratic BMA would have been disastrous, thus allowing Ruais to blame Democrat
