The Brown and Palace theaters stand out as Louisville landmarks built in the 1920s, but they are not the only event venues from the early 20th century to leave a mark on the city's history.

Louisville's Memorial Auditorium is set to turn 100 years old in 2029. Some may know the Greek-style building for its pipe organ, said to the largest ever built by the Henry Pilcher's Sons Organ Company, according the Encyclopedia of Louisville.

"Long before the bronzed doors opened, crowds began to gather before the simple, massive Doric columns of the shrine which will memorialize for centuries those who took up arms, or attended its wounded in [World War I]," read a Courier Journal story on the Memorial Auditorium's public debut on May 30, 1929.
