Senior Trinamool Congress leader and four-time Lok Sabha MP Kalyan Banerjee has reportedly lost over ₹55 lakh after cybercriminals accessed his dormant State Bank of India (SBI) account using forged KYC documents.

The incident came to light after Banerjee discovered that a large sum from his personal SBI Kalighat branch account had been transferred into an old, inactive account—originally opened during his tenure as an MLA between 2001 and 2006—and subsequently siphoned off through a series of online transactions.
