Taboo topics in higher education will be the focus of a lecture at the University of Toledo on Thursday.
The lecture, American Taboos: Teaching the Unspeakable in Higher Education, will be presented by Nasser Hussain of New College of Florida.
Mr. Hussain is an assistant professor of anthropology at New College, where he also directs the Civil Discourse Initiative and is the founder and head of the Culture and Politics Lab.
The lecture will “explore topics that are widely treated as untouchable in the United States, including what is lost when instructors avoid them in higher education classrooms,” organizers said.
The event, hosted by by UT’s Institute of American Constitutional Thought and Leadership, will be at noon in room 1013 of the Law Center. To register, visit the institute’
