QUINCY (WGEM) - SNAP recipients got a free meal Friday thanks to the United Way of Adams County.
People lined up outside the Quincy Senior and Family Resource Center to get the free meal kits.
The event was part of the Adams County Together initiative and was in response to the ongoing SNAP benefit delays.
The group raised more than $4,500 in a little more than a week to put the event together.
“United Way convened a group that we call Adams County Together, that was created in 2020 when COVID happened. We reconvened when the SNAP benefits became delayed so that we can kind of feed our neighbors because there are a lot of families and individuals who are feeling the strain and so today, we were able to put together one thousand meals and 500 individuals or families each get two meal ki
