HOUSTON — Congressman Al Green (D), who currently represents Texas' 9th Congressional District, has announced a bid for a different seat in Congress.

The congressman said Texas' new congressional map now places his home in the 18th Congressional District of Texas, which was most recently represented by the late Congressman and former Houston Mayor Sylvester Turner.

"I am not moving, the 18th District was redrawn such that my home of more than 25 years, and the constituents that I have represented for some 20 years, are now in the 18th Congressional District," Green said. "So I am announcing that I will be running for the 18th Congressional District, the permanent seat."
