A multi-vehicle rollover crash involving a white Tesla and a Toyota RAV4 temporarily shut down traffic near the Lincoln Tunnel early Saturday, Nov. 8, officials said.
The crash occurred around 3:54 a.m. on Route 495, when emergency crews from the Lincoln Tunnel New Jersey Emergency Garage (NJEG) responded to reports of a multi-vehicle accident with a possible entrapment, according to Tunnel & Bridge Agents–TWU Local 1400.
When units arrived, they discovered three vehicles, one of which had overturned onto its side, officials said. Crews confirmed there were no occupants trapped and began patient assessments while EMS units from Union City and Weehawken assisted at the scene.
The North Hudson Fire Department also responded, stretching a precautionary line and stabilizing the overturned vehicle, authorities said.
All patients were treated and transported by EMS. Thanks to the coordinated efforts of all responding agencies, the incident was cleared and Route 495 fully reopened by 5 a.m., officials said.
“Outstanding teamwork by NJEG, NHFD, Union City EMS, and Weehawken EMS for their swift and professional response,” the union wrote in a post.
