DALLAS — As the holiday season approaches, one North Texas nonprofit is focusing on a group often overlooked during this time of year — people who are formerly incarcerated and working to rebuild their lives.
Unlocking Doors, a Dallas-based nonprofit, partners with local businesses to promote second-chance hiring and connect employers with ready-to-work candidates. Through partnerships with companies like FedEx Ground, the Trinity River Authority, and Ruthie’s Café, the organization helps create pathways for people re-entering society — and in turn, strengthens communities across North Texas.
“When somebody doesn’t get services within about two weeks to a month after transitioning, there’s a greater opportunity for them to go back,” said Christina Melton Crain, founder of Unlocking Doors
