NORTH CAROLINA, USA — North Carolina health officials have paused the release of full Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits after the U.S. Supreme Court temporarily allowed the Trump administration to block their distribution late Friday night.
The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (NCDHHS) said partial November SNAP benefits were issued Friday morning, with plans to release the remaining funds over the weekend. Those plans were halted following the White House’s decision to appeal a lower court order that would have allowed full payments to move forward.
According to NCDHHS, Friday’s partial payments represented about 65% of the normal maximum allotment for more than 586,000 households. Families who typically receive the maximum amount saw a 35%
