Police have declared a critical incident after a man’s body was discovered on a walking track in northern NSW following a suspected brawl involving up to 20 people.
The 25-year-old man’s body was found on the track near Fischer St, Goonellabah - in Lismore’s east - about 6.20am on Friday, a NSW Police statement said.
A crime scene was set up.
Hours earlier, about 2.50am, a 31-year-old man with serious head injuries was taken to Lismore Base Hospital by unknown people.
He was then flown to the Gold Coast University Hospital and remains in a serious condition.
Initial inquiries suggested the two men may have been involved in a brawl in nearby Clifford Park earlier that morning.
Up to 15 to 20 people were involved in the fight, police have said.
