The Columbia River girls soccer team hasn’t had possession of the district champion trophy since 2018.
Well, technically the Rapids still don’t have it as the trophy was nowhere to be found on Saturday night, but the scoreboard at John O’Rourke Field told the story in a 3-0 shutout of Hockinson in the 2A District 4 championship match.
Columbia River (19-0-1) completed a season sweep of the Hawks (14-5-0) by never allowing a goal in their three games.
“We knew it was going to be a big game and we have been working toward this all season,” said senior midfielder Juliana Rapp. “We just needed to play our best.”
And that the Rapids did with a smothering first half, possessing the ball for most of the 40 minutes.
Junior midfielder Makayla Hundt scored both goals for the Rapids in the first
