At 1:44 a.m. on Sunday, the National Weather Service released a winter weather advisory valid from 10 a.m. until Monday 7 a.m. for Niagara and Orleans counties.

"Rain changing over to wet snow expected. Total snow accumulations 3 to 5 inches," adds the weather service. "The majority of snow accumulations through this afternoon will be on grassy and elevated surfaces, though snow intensity may be sufficient to result in snow covered roads at times."

"Plan on slippery road conditions. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday morning commute," comments the weather service. "Periods of snow will result in limited visibilities and may cause a slick coating on area roadways. Slow down and use caution while driving."
