Countryfile's Adam Henson delivered some poignant news during Sunday's episode of the BBC programme.
Adam introduced the three finalists vying for the Young Countryside Champion award at this year's BBC Food & Farming Awards.
Nevertheless, it was beekeeper Dafydd Pett's tale that took a heartfelt direction.
The contestant from Bridgend revealed that he wished to pursue beekeeping in honour of his late grandfather.
