PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- Despite a last-minute change of plans, the East Bluff Community Center found a new way to bring the neighborhood together this weekend.
The center was originally set to host its annual "Run the Bluff 5K" on Saturday, but pivoted to a community breakfast instead. Residents gathered at the center to share a meal of pancakes and bacon and connect with one another.
East Bluff Community Center CEO Christian McKinney said events like this are all about building relationships and fostering unity.
“Breaking bread together is how a lot of the best conversations and best negotiations happen — over some meals. We want everybody to know that we are a community," McKinney said. "Even though we live in different houses, and we’re a few blocks away from each other, we’re all in
