On Monday at 1:36 a.m. a winter weather advisory was issued by the National Weather Service valid from 1 p.m. until Tuesday 1 p.m. for Monroe County.
"Total snow accumulations 4 to 7 inches in the most persistent lake snows," can be anticipated according to the weather service. "The heaviest snowfall is expected be across northern portions of the county Monday night."
"Travel will be difficult. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes," explains the weather service. "Lake effect snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities. During lake effect snow, the weather can vary from bands of locally heavy snow with greatly reduced visibilities to dry conditions just a few mile
