On Monday at 1:36 a.m. the National Weather Service issued a winter weather advisory valid from 1 p.m. until Tuesday 1 p.m. for Wayne, Cayuga and Oswego counties.
"Total snow accumulations 5 to 9 inches in the most persistent lake snows," can be expected according to the weather service. "The heaviest snowfall is expected to occur Monday night into Tuesday morning."
"Travel will be difficult. The hazardous conditions will impact the Monday evening and Tuesday morning commutes," adds the weather service. "Lake effect snow will fall in relatively narrow bands. If traveling, be prepared for rapidly changing road conditions and visibilities."
