A cherished BBC star who dedicated 30 years to the broadcaster has tragically passed away. BBC cameraman John Williams has died, with former colleagues paying heartfelt tributes to the "well-respected" professional.

The announcement was made on Pebble Mill's Facebook page on Sunday evening. The message stated: "Hi, I've heard sad news from James French. John Williams, whom we knew was very ill, has sadly died. He will be much missed."

Working as a cameraman for the BBC, John was recognised for his contributions across numerous programmes from the legendary Pebble Mill studios in Birmingham. The announcement featured a picture of John whilst filming for the BBC drama Howards' Way, a beloved daytime series about the Howard family and the sailing community, which aired from 1985 to 1990.
