An arrest has been made following a 'hostage situation' in North Ayrshire during the early hours of Monday morning (November 10).
Police were called to Cathkin Place in the Whitehirst Park area of Kilwinning at around 1.10am after reports of a 'male causing a disturbance' within a property. Armed police were dispatched to the scene and the street was locked down.
Residents in the area were urged to stay indoors while emergency services handled with the incident which is believed to have been a hostage situation. Paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service and fire crews were also in attendance.
Officers have since arrested a 38-year-old man following the disturbance. There have been no reported injuries and locals have been thanked for their patience.
